Here’s what you need to know about PFAS/PFOA in South Jersey:

• The majority of PFAS/PFOA exposure may be through contaminated drinking water
• PFAS/PFOA are not removed from water when you boil the water
• PFAS/PFOA is tied to a number of health concerns, including increased cholesterol, increased uric acid, lower antibody levels after a vaccination, increased liver enzymes, tumor growth, kidney cancer, and testicular cancer
• Children may have increased responses due to their lower overall body weight. They may suffer from low weight/weight gain and increase risk of infectious disease.
• If your water is contaminated beyond the state standards, you should be notified
• If this happens, start relying on bottled water immediately. You can also have your South Jersey water tested and a filter installed to remove PFAS/PFOA
• If there are PFAS/PFOA in your water, you should also use bottled water in your humidifier until a filter is installed
