WATER SAVING TIPS
WATER: it’s the liquid we need to live !
At home, at play, at work, we can all learn to conserve.
By changing your habits, repairing leaks, installing water saving devices and in some areas, allow for water reuse.
TOILETS: Flush only when necessary. Don’t use toilet to dispose of cigarette butts or other trash. Consider installing a low-flow toilet Add food coloring to toilet tank and check water in bowl in 15 minutes. (Don’t flush) Color in toilet bowl probably means there’s a leak
SINK: Plug drain when washing or shaving. Don’t run water when brushing your teeth. Fix drips promptly. Install water saving devices and try a faucet aerator to reduce amount of water used
TUB or SHOWER: Take shallow baths. Keep showers short with pressure at low force
KITCHEN: Garbage Disposal: Use sparingly, or better yet compost Wash dishes by hand, or when using dishwasher, only run FULL loads. Keep water in refrig instead of running it to get cool. Thaw food in microwave or refrig., not under running water.
LAUNDRY: Use proper load selection
OUTSIDE: Use a hose nozzle that you can shut off. Consider a drip irrigation system. Use a broom on driveway for clippings and debris. Water when the sun goes down or early morning. Rinse car once, wash, and then quickly again.
POOL: Don’t over fill pool. This helps reduce splashing and spilling. Use a cover to slow down evaporation.
